Friday Night

Our first cloudy day. Some sun, but lots of clouds. What a difference clouds make. With the wind, it can feel quite cold when the sun disappears. Every day is an adventure, especially the evenings. Again tonight, we were here at the aparment beginning to wind down and wondering what might happen tonight. Around 7:45, we decided to eat some bread and cheese. Fifteen minutes later, around 8 p.m., friends arrived and the evening activities began. We went out to a cafe for sandwiches and fabulous fresh Ecuador juice. The evening meal is usually sometime between 8 and 10. Last night we ate around 10 p.m.

At the cafe this evening, someone suggested we go to a local village to hear traditional local bands play. We left around 9:15 and stayed until a litle after 11 when the rains came. And now we are back at the apartment waiting for Jesica to arrive back home after spending the evening out with Nicole and friends, doing what Riobamba youth do on Friday nights.

One of the things I love about Ecuador is how everyone has fun together and spends time together - even the adults. It seems like most evenings friends get together somewhere. Much of the socialization revovles around food.

Now it is time to get to bed and look forward to more fun adventures tomorrow. So glad Janelle and Franklin have so many good friends here in Ecuador.
